Fragment (1): Gary

Updated: Apr 28, 2024

“Objects, words must be led across time not preserved against it.” (Jack Spicer)

_______

(for Gary Hart)

Some grass blown over your eyes,

I saw (soul-shriveled

as I am in a wet early Spring!)

an absent plot (was it just plot borders taking

you in?) and even the

slight form of a daughterless dad (or was it just how the neighboring

stone took you out ?) & a very wet sunken place ( Gary , not a tree around for shade

either!) With a little watchful sweeping, (alone

as I always am here),

I saw the step, smile and veiny brow

return,

and lying very shapeless under my feet

a few leaves yet

to brush from your eyes, old friend.
